New Esperance are a women's morris dancing team based in London who perform Cotswold dances in the Bledington, Fieldtown and Esperance traditions. We practise weekly in Borough, central London, with regular dance performances during the summer months.
Here is our current 2010 diary - watch this space for more events still being added..
Highlights of 2009 included dancing at Mary Neal Day in February, when we celebrated the person who inspired our team, and did so much to promote morris dancing in the early 1900's.
We had a ball on St George's Day April 23, when we danced in Borough Market as part of the St George in Southwark Festival. Check out this super cool video of us on You tube!
Then on May Day we toured Islington with our May Milkmaids' garland, and performed at the Knees Up ceilidh that evening. We spent the Bank Holiday weekend in Hastings at the fabulous Jack in the Green festival (phew...) Check out this blog from BBC Radio's Mike Harding.
We enjoyed a hectic weekend in September at Wallingford Bunkfest on Saturday 5th, and Adderbury Club Day on Sunday 6th. Click here to see us dancing outside the Dolphin in Wallingford, and here for an article in the Oxford Mail featuring an interview and photo of Filiz, our newest member in kit.
